The keys to progress are not complex:
- set some realistic, measurable targets
- prioritise your time and resources
- keep monitoring and measuring progress, and change tack if needed.
Each 6 months in my own business, I look back at performance against my targets. Of course to a certain extent these are financial, how much revenue has the business earned and what's the cash balance at the end of the year?
However, I also set myself non-financial targets around the number of meetings with potential new clients or referrers and non-client tasks such as keeping the admin up to date. And one of the most important is how much exercise I get; in order to keep the business running optimally, I need to focus on myself and keep "me" running, although not literally.
It's been a good year all round so thanks to my clients for making it a successful and an interesting year. The beauty of the SuccessMap program is the ease of monitoring and measuring progress and we've had some significant achievements.
I look forward to working with you and more Geelong small businesses in 2015.
